On August 15, Seattle’s Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band performed a special benefit concert at the Mount St. Helens Institute in advance of the 30th anniversary of the volcano’s eruption (May 18th, 1980). As part of their visit, the band members were guided through various sites throughout the Mount St. Helens Monument before they performed at the Johnston Ridge Observatory, making it the first time a band has ever played a volcano in the continental United States.
