Three Imaginary Girls is getting ready for Bumbershoot

There was a time when I went to Bumbershoot RELIGIOUSLY, choosing to celebrate my birthday (which usually falls on Labor Day Weekend) with a weekend-long immersion of Bumbershootin’ goodness. I’m sad to say that in recent years, this hasn’t been in the case, either due to lack of funds or lack of patience (aren’t you supposed to get more tolerant as you get older? Hmmm…)

But I digress — this year is THE year that I’m throwing myself back in to it! And this year I’m also focusing on a lot more theater, film & art than I am on music, because I promised myself I’d explore the whole thing, not just part of it. One of the things about Bumbershoot that’s kinda hard to manage is that there is so much happening, it’s hard to pick what you can live without — but I finally whittled it down to 3 absolute must-sees per day:

Saturday, September 5:
1-3pm: Rock Prophecies: a documentary about Rock photographer Robert M. Knight

3:30-4:30pm: Best of SIFF Jury Award Winners: amazing shorts from this year’s festival

8-9pm: Charlyne Yi & Patton Oswalt: two comedians I’m excited about!

Sunday, September 6:
1-2pm: Fly Films SIFF 2009: short films from this year’s fly challenge

2:30-3:45pm: Yeah Yeah Yeahs: I am so in love with Karen O, it’s not funny

4:30-5:30pm: Best of SIFF 2009 Audience Award Winners: containing one of my fave shorts, “Full Employment”

Monday, September 7:
12:30-1:30pm: Macklemore: hip-hop/political satire/entertaining as hell

2-3pm: Reel Grrls: short films from one of the coolest organizations in Seattle

7:30-8:45pm: Night Shift: A Story and Six Songs: an original story by NWFF’s Lyall Bush, w/music by Devin Sullivan

Plus, you know — 75 other thing I’ll fit in around these. Maybe I’ll see you there?

Waiting in Antic-i-pation,
Amie Simon
