Review Revue: Spinal Tap - This Is Spinal Tap

spinaltap

Ahhh, Spinal Tap. Possibly the most successful band completely invented for the sake of television/film comedy (eat your heart out, Monkees), the band just released their third actual album (not to be confused with their 13-album fictional discography), are now among the elder statesmen of Guitar Hero, and have been playing huge festivals this summer, proving once and for all that truth is absolutely stranger than fiction, even when the truth is a direct by-product of fiction.

“Okay, so this fictitious band was created for the film This Is Spinal Tap. They recorded a bunch of songs for the film, and now have released the (fictitious) LP from the movie. Mostly great metal - funny, too. A couple of the bands’ earlier (film story-wise) songs are pop/psychedelia. Tracks that would not get insulting phone calls: 1-6, 2-5, 2-5. The latter two are masterpieces.”

“YAY! I <3 Nigel Tufnel and I've NEVER been more serious in my life!"

"I want to crawl inside his cleft chin and live there! Fantastic movie!"

"That sounds sick, but LP is great."

"Oh, yeah? Me first!!"

"Poopy!"

"I love it! They were GREAT at Bumbershoot!"

"'Gimme Some Money' a great pledge drive song!"

"'Mach'"
