Tune into KEXP this Saturday, September 19th for a special edition of Audioasis hosted by DJ Alex! Alex will feature live performances from local electronic artists Lusine, Pezzner, and an interview with Sean Horton, Co-Founder and Director of Decibel Festival.
(6PM) Lusine (Jeff McIlwain) has been producing his visceral, melodic strain of abstract electronic music as Lusine for 10 years now. Originally a Texas native, Jeff attended CalArts in 1998, studying 20th-century electronic music and sound design for music and film. McIlwain relocated to Seattle and began steadily releasing his music on Ghostly International, Hymen, and U-Cover. McIlwain has also contributed tracks to various compilations and remix releases on Mute, !K7, Kompakt, Asthmatic Kitty, and Shitkatapult. His latest album, A Certain Distance, was released on Ghostly International earlier this year.
(8PM) Pezzner is an accomplished and internationally respected producer and composer of various styles of electronic music. As one half of powerhouse duo Jacob London, Dave Pezzner has credited over 15 vinyl releases and over 30 remixes shipped worldwide. In addition to his work as an electronica artist, Dave is a composer for television, advertising and games and has composed works for American Idol, The Discovery Channel, Nordstrom, and T-Mobile.
(7PM) Sean Horton is the Co-Founder and Director of Decibel Festival,a non-profit, four-day annual music and arts festival held in Seattle, WA. Founded in 2003, the festival bridges the gap between technology and creativity through visual art, workshops, panel discussions and cutting-edge electronic music performances. The 6th Annual Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music, Visual Art and New Media is September 24 through September 29, 2009.
