Ready for another New York band to fall in love with? ZAZA is one part Jennifer Fraser and one part Danny Taylor. Both have played a significant part in previous projects (Jennifer, The Warlocks and Danny, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart) but have come together to form a fantastic new Brooklyn duo. Their music is all about the fuzz; a dreamy mixture of pop/shoegaze, reminiscent of early bands like Slowdive and Ride. The male vocals are a nice switch-up and give the music a fresh twist. While it’s true they definitely wear their influences on their sleeves, they do it so well you’ll hardly notice or care. Kanine Records continues to put out an impressive roster, and ZAZA is another great addition. Ther new EP Cameo was just released in August and is already getting rave reviews from U.S. and British press. New songs like “Sooner or Later” and “Always On” are stand out tracks on the new EP. You might remember the former from a very recent Song of the Day podcast!
We are excited to havehad ZAZA playing live during our broadcast from CMJ at The Cutting Room Studios NYC.
You can read more about the band on their website and listen to some samples on their MySpace page. You can also connect with the band on twitter @ zazasound. Tune in today for more live sessions!
