Every year, KEXP champions hundreds of bands but there are only a handful that become very intimate and have a certain resonance with the station’s staff and listeners. Minneapolis collective Cloud Cult is one of those groups that have gathered a loyal listenership and fervent fanbase in Seattle and have been extremely generous with their time for KEXP over the years, having performed at many our live events like our Ballard Day broadcast and a KEXP BBQ.
And as further proof of their generosity: this past summer while Cloud Cult was on tour in Seattle, they performed an exclusive set for KEXP’s VIP Club members, never intending it to be broadcast live or for any other reason than to give back to their fans. We were fortunate, though, to sneak in with our video cameras and capture this amazing performance. So this is an exclusive KEXP exclusive, performed live at The Triple Door and never heard by anyone since… until now!
Continuing their goodwill, Cloud Cult is offering copies of their new double-disc reissue of two albums recorded a pivotal point in the band’s history — They Live on the Sun (2003) and Aurora Borealis (2004) – remixed, remastered and including bonus tracks for 5 lucky listeners. Check over at our KEXP Facebook Fan Page for a chance to win. As a bonus, winners will also get a copy of their recent DVD No One Said It Would Be Easy. Both are available now at the Cloud Cult store at very affordable prices.
