Holiday cheer and goodwill is in the air, and along with it comes the overwhelming influx of holiday music retailers are using to manipulate you to spend, spend, spend. In spite of their efforts, it’s a great time to give, give, give, and get a dose of sonic relief from the holiday scramble and do a little good at the same time!
Make way to the GIVE Benefit at The Crocodile tonight for an eclectic evening of Seattle-centric flavor with Tilson of the Saturday Knights MC’ing. The event, running companion to the GIVE CD we’ve been spinning a lot lately — and the one you may have spotted in fine local establishments such as Easy Street Records, Sonic Boom Records, The Crocodile, and Neumo’s to name just a few – will feature performances from Grand Archives, D. Black, Grant Olsen of Arthur and Yu, Kinksi, Fences, Gabriel Mintz, and Tea Cozies – all who have contributed exclusive tracks to the compilation.
The GIVE project was masterminded by Caffe Vita, who was also in charge of producing, curating, funding, and bringing to fruition in a short couple months a compilation that features 36 exclusive tracks from local musicians, and raises money to benefit ARTS Corps and local area food banks of Ballard, West Seattle, Rainier Valley, and the University District.
$15 gets you into the show, and gets you the warm fuzzy knowledge of supporting local food banks and fostering the creative minds of Seattle’s youth. Tonight’s benefit will also raise money for parts of the project not donated — as all facets of the project were done pro bono by our local partners. For more information on GIVE, visit www.giveseattle.org. Show starts at 9pm!
