Out This Week 12/8

Most of what you’ll find on Largehearted Boy’s list of new releases this week are box sets, vinyl reissues and remastered albums, including that sweet 16 GB green apple-shaped USB drive containing 17 remastered Beatles albums (but you better hurry because those things are going fast!). Other great looking reissues include 2-CD sets from Camera Obscura, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, and Pulp, but one we can most certainly recommend is the reissue of Cloud Cult‘s They Live on the Sun (2003) & Aurora Borealis (2004) remastered and including bonus tracks.

But if it’s not gifts you’re after and just want some gold old musical enjoyment, check out the latest from Seattle’s Feral Children, who returned to the studio with producer Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Arcade Fire) for a more atmospheric followup to their well-received debut, Second to the Last Frontier. Also, new Hyperdub group King Midas Sound, a trio formed by Kevin Martin (aka The Bug), draws dubstep back its reggae roots, and another NW artist, James Pants, conceives of an electro-hiphop mysticism in his sophomore release. Here are the rest of the highlights, which include excellent live albums by Neil Young and Trans Am:
