Tuvan throat singing one day, seventeen year old indie rockers the next -- that’s how it goes in the KEXP studio. Over these past two weeks, we’ve had a ridiculously diverse group of guests live on the air. While Huun Huur Tu along with producer Carmen Rizzo brought us an update from the ancient East, local teenagers Kids & Animals skipped school [we hope not!] to teach us what the next generation can bring. Whether it was the redefined roots of Dave Rawlings Machine, Justin Townes Earle, and Scott H. Biram (not in-studio but at the Tractor), the innovative electronics of Daedelus, the raw lyricism of Dessa, the groove and falsetto of Wild Beasts, the fresh beats of female MCs THEE Emergency, the neo-soul grooves of Fitz and The Tantrums, the dance rhythms of Yeasayer, the wholly American sound of The Blasters, or masterful mixes by producer Jake One and many others, you won’t find a wider range of performers in such a brief period of time. As always, our team of photographers is there to help bring it all home for you. If you want to listen to some of these sessions, be sure to check out our Live Performances page.
