Upcoming on Audioasis: Afternoon American, The Spinning Whips, The Cute Lepers and The Whore Moans @ The Sunset!

It’s going to be another fantastic night of local music this Saturday at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard, with Audioasis’s resident DJ Hannah Levin hosting special musical guests Afternoon American, The Spinning Whips, The Cute Lepers and The Whore Moans! Each month Audioasis chooses one local charity for proceeds to go to: This month, People’s Harm Reduction Alliance is spotlighted. People Harm Reduction Alliance is a community-based, grassroots organization. They believe that harm reduction services are most effective when they are offered with respect and compassion in a democratic context that treats all community members as equals and peers.

Afternoon American (9:15PM) features members of awesome local band members of The Hands & Shark Lake. One of their first shows, and not to be missed!

The Spinning Whips (10:15PM) features members of local bands Ice Age Cobra and Magic Mirrors. Brand new music from Jordan West!

The Cute Lepers (10:45PM) sophomore record, Smart Accessories, continues with more of the tuneful energy that earned their debut full length the attention of Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records, Damaged Goods Records, and 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. The Cute Lepers’ first album earned respectable slots on radio station charts on both US coasts as well as an Independent Music Award for best Punk Album in 2009. Their power pop/punk debut made an appearance on several DJ’s top list of 2008, including KEXP.

The Whore Moans (12AM) have been slanging their tight, soulful brand of scuzz rock since 2005. The Whore Moans newest release on Mt. Fuji Records is titled Hello from the Radio Wasteland. Recorded in glorious analog by producer Johnny Sangster, (The Posies, Mud Honey, The Briefs,) the album moves the group into new and exciting territory. Refusing to be boring, the record is a meditation on the strange musical landscape one finds crackling on the midnight radio.

As always, doors open at 8:30pm and the show begins at 9pm. No kids allowed as The Sunset is 21+ and tickets can be found at Brown Paper Tickets.

Net proceeds benefit People’s Harm Reduction Alliance and major funding for Audioasis comes from New Belgium Brewing Company. Additional support for Audioasis comes from the City of Seattle: Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
