Modernizing surf, gospel and pop rock music, Californians Bethany Cosentino and Bob Brunno layer their retro sound with vocal harmonies and lyrics that remind of good times, love (good and bad), and sandy beaches. Best Coast is less cosmic drone of Cosentino’s former group, Pocahaunted, and more bright fuzz and warm tones.
As the third band on KEXP’s broadcast from the Gibson Showroom in Austin during SXSW, Bethany, Bobb Bruno (bass), and Adam Garcia (drums) made for a refreshing palate cleanser after the orchestral pop of our previous two sessions.
