Following up our Song of the Day today with Minneapolis MC Dessa come these videos from her recent in-studio at KEXP. Labelmate of P.O.S, Dessa is the Doomtree Collective’s only female member, but more significantly, she’s the one to challenge many of the stereotypes of rap, choosing to focus mostly on interpersonal relationships of all kinds -- with lovers, family, and friends -- while always maintaining a high degree of lyrical integrity. It’s no wonder her roots grow from a firm grounding in spoken word poetry. Check out two songs from the session with more to come:
