Tomorrow at 3:30 pm PST on The Afternoon Show, I’ll be welcoming Moby back to the KEXP studios. He won’t be bringing his synthesizers or guitar, and he’s not DJ’ing at any clubs later tonight. Instead, Moby will be speaking tonight at Town Hall about... meat.
Yeah, I know. What does a platinum recording artist like Moby know about meat? He doesn’t even eat meat, and has been vegan for almost two decades!
But he’s also the co-editor of a new book for both carnivores and herbivores titled Gristle: From Factory Farms to Food Safety (Thinking Twice About the Meat We Eat) . Moby teamed up with leading food policy activist and expert Miyun Park, interviewing a diverse collection of people, from farmers to scientists to animal welfare advocates.
The book explores everything from the effects of factory farming on the environment to the toxins we’re exposing to our children. It’s a fascinating read, and if you live in the Seattle area, you can attend a talk tomorrow night at Town Hall with Moby titled “Future of Health: Thinking Twice about the Meat We Eat.” Doors are at 6:30 pm, and the event runs from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, and will include a discussion, Q&A, and a book signing.
