Today’s selection, featured on the Midday Show with Cheryl Waters, is “I Started a Fire” by Jaguar Love from their 2010 sophomore release, Hologram Jams, available on Fat Possum Records.
Some families are blessed with a musical gene. Such is the case with the brothers Votolato. Last week Kevin offered up the soulful song stylings of singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato and this week Cheryl is spotlighting a project co-fronted by brother Cody. Portland’s Jaguar Love couldn’t be any more different sonically from the elder Votolato and to fans of the band’s debut are in for surprise as Hologram Jams is quite a departure from the more rockin’ Take Me to the Sea. Last year Cody and singer Johnny Whitney (The Blood Brothers, The Vogue, Neon Blonde) parted ways with drummer Jay Clark and headed more deeply into the glammy dance punk waters that would become
Jaguar Love launched a massive US/European tour yesterday and have a couple of NW stops including an all ages gig in Portland at Satyricon on April 30th and a spot at the SOLD OUT Sasquatch Music Festival on May 31st. More dates and info on their MySpace page.
