Following up their stripped down duo performance live on KEXP during CMJ 2009, Choir of Young Believers, led by Denmark’s Jannis Noya Makrigiannis, upped the ante to play as a four-piece during KEXP’s broadcast from Gibson Showroom in Austin during SXSW. In this configuration, songs they’ve performed before, like “Why Must It Always Be This Way,” take on a lush quality that makes them seem practically like new. And the Choir introduced two actually new songs in the set, both as yet unnamed (calling them just “new song number one” and “new song number three”) but both just as gorgeous, epic and moody as anything on their well-received debut, This Is For The White In Your Eyes.
