March was a busy month for KEXP as we were gearing up for and attending South By SouthWest Music Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas. And let’s face it, most of the bands we love here at KEXP were doing the same thing. In addition to SXSW, we also had to take care of our Spring Pledge Drive. Somehow, we managed to squeeze in some quality performances from brilliant artists.
In March we enjoyed the following talents: Brooklyn indie-rockers Bear Hands, Seattle chamber pop band Grand Hallway, Portland folk singer/songwriter Laura Veirs, Seattle’s Christopher Mansfield as Fences, Seattle alt-country/folk artist Rocky Votolato, folk/pop artist Devendra Banhart, Seattle Rock Orchestra performed a tribute to David Bowie (with some special guests including David Terry of Aqueduct), inter-continental DJ Matias Aguayo, Norwegian alt-rock group Serena-Maneesh, Brooklyn experimental duo High Places, Seattle indie-rockers silOHs, indie-folk collaborators Ben Sollee & Daniel Martin Moore, and indie-punkers from New Jersey Titus Andronicus.
