It’s going to be another thrash-tastic night of tunes this Saturday at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard, with Audioasis DJ Hannah Levin welcoming guests Butts, Thunder Buffalo and The Lights! Audioasis selects one local charity for all event proceeds to benefit: This month, Seattle Tilth. The mission of Seattle Tilth is to inspire and educate people to garden organically, conserve natural resources and support local food systems in order to cultivate a healthy urban environment and community. Their vision is to transform the NW region into the organic gardening capital of the world.
On their self-titled debut for Sarathan Records, Thunder Buffalo mixes dirty guitars and feedback with raw, fuzzed-out pop. Check out Jill Rachel’s photos from Thunder Buffalo’s February Audioasis in-studio here.
The Lights have just released Failed Graves, their third album, on Wantage Records. Described by KEXP’s Don Yates as “an excellent set of wiry, tension-filled post-punk”, their headlining set will not disappoint. Check out the video for “Setting Sun” from their 2006 album Diamonds and Dirt above.
As always, doors open at 8:30pm and the music begins with DJ sets at 9pm. 21+! No kids allowed. Tickets at Brown Paper Tickets. Major funding for Audioasis comes from New Belgium Brewing Company. Additional support for Audioasis comes from the City of Seattle: Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
