Out This Week 5/18

LCD Soundsystem

So many great new releases today! Among the pack, Band of Horses‘ third album, and first recorded away from Seattle, Infinite Arms; The Black Keys‘ latest, Brothers; and a happenin’ new album, and reportedly the last, by LCD Soundsystem. “This Is Happening” is what you tell yourself as you shake your hips to one catchy, clever, non-”hit” after another in this album full of knowing nods to iconic influences (Eno, Bowie, Byrne, et al) and inventive

Besides the big three right there, you’ll want to check out the seventh album from the long-running Swedish duo Club 8, which you’ll hear regularly on KEXP right now, and Compass, the third album on Warp from soulful singer Jamie Lidell. Seattle represents with great new releases from Head Like A Kite and Pearly Gate Music. Also worth your consideration: the sophomore album from the genre bending and entirely bendable Poison Control Center, the electronica-meets-sleaze-rock collaboration of Solex vs. Cristina Martinez + Jon Spencer, and the Gary Louris-produced Darker Circles by The Sadies.

And if you’re the kind of person who thinks the MacGruber trailers are funny, you’re going to love the soundtrack, which includes everything from The Black Keys and Lightspeed Champion to Mr. Mister and Michael Bolton. Plus, Dean & Britta and other indie rockers contribute to Sing Me To Sleep: Indie Lullabies, a charity album to benefit The Valerie Fund, an organization that provides support for children with cancer and blood disorders -- feel good about the music, feel good about the cause.

Check out all of these and more on Largehearted Boy’s List and sample these guilt-free tracks right now before heading out to also support your favorite record store:
