It’s going to be a dance extravaganza explosion of awesome tunes this Saturday at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard, with Audioasis DJ Hannah Levin welcoming guests Sex with Strangers, THEESatisfaction and Truckasauras! Each month Audioasis selects one local charity for all event proceeds to benefit: This month we spotlight Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.

Youngstown Cultural Arts Center is a multi-purpose, community-based facility located on Delridge Way in West Seattle. It includes a state-of-the-art theater, movement studio, recording studio, and classrooms, all available to the community. Youngstown offers free programs each weekday for teens, including organic cooking and gardening, arts classes like DIY fashion and break dance, and internships in leadership development.
Vancouver band Sex with Strangers (9:30PM) are perhaps Canada’s greatest purveyors of robot-rock. Fresh from the release of their new album The Tokyo Steel on Boutique Empire, this is a band that will command you to move. Check out the video for the track “New City Anthem” above.
Thee Satisfaction (10:30PM) are the sharp, sci-fi obsessed, neo-bohemian female duo (and couple) of Catherine Harris-White and Stasia Irons. Dave Chappelle, Isis, and A Tribe Called Quest are all cited as influences of their nebula-jazz, intergalactic-soul, and astronomical-a capella that will funk you up.
Truckasauras (11:30PM) is perhaps the biggest name in Northwest electronic music; heroes of the lo-fi side of the crunky club techno scene. Fishing vests, trucker hats emblazoned with bald eagles, and American flags-as-capes are the fashion de rigueur for this crew, who stand in front of a projected VHS mashup of monster truck rallies and helicopter explosions. Not to be missed!
As always, doors open at 8:30pm and the music begins with DJ sets at 9pm. 21+! No kids allowed. Tickets at Brown Paper Tickets. Major funding for Audioasis comes from New Belgium Brewing Company. Additional support for Audioasis comes from the City of Seattle: Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
