In her writeup of today’s featured Song of the Day podcast of “Taos” by Portland band Menomena, Leigh mentioned that as of yet there are no videos for their latest album, Mines. Fortunately, our own video cameras were on hand when the band came into the KEXP studio to perform new songs live last week.
Now performing as a four-piece with Joe Haege from 31 Knots, Menomena always manage to sound both exacting and reckless as they tear through their typically idiosyncratic songs -- their structures are composed with such precision, yet sometimes it seems like the band isn’t entirely sure when to start and stop. But that’s all part of the fun! All self-professed “control freaks,” Brent Knopf, Justin Harris, and Danny Seim never forget to add a dose of humor to their carefully crafted music. Check out four songs from Mines now:

Tuning in from Shreveport, LA, I loved this set and plan to go right out and buy me some Menomena! Thanks, Cheryl.
These videos are wonderful
I’m seeing them in LA this week and this footage has me jazzed....
Keep up the good work!
If I’m dreaming you and you’re dreaming me, then why do we chose a different story?
