Anyone who listens to Midday Show host Cheryl Waters knows that she’s a sucker for psychedelic rock, so when one-time bassist for The Brian Jonestown Massacre Tommy Dietrick released the third full-length with his own band, Sky Parade, she jumped right on it. Intoxicated, produced fittingly enough by Courtney Taylor-Taylor of The Dandy Warhols, is a soaring album of psych-rock bliss. With Bobby Bones on bass, Scott Moran on lead guitar, and Joel Patterson on drums, Sky Parade bridges the very narrow gap between the newer and older purveyors of genre, from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Black Angels to Primal Scream and Spiritualized to The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones.
