Out This Week 8/24

Getting your (kids’?) back to school gear together already? It’s time to take a quick detour from your superstore shopping and hit your local record shop for a truckload of excellent new releases out this week -- !!!, EELS, Ra Ra Riot, Les Savy Fav, Antony and the Johnsons... there are almost too many to choose from... almost! On top of those are recent KEXP faves Fitz & the Tantrums, Dan Mangan, and Magic Kids, plus the latest from Isobell Campbell and Mark Lanegan. Dead Confederate also have a surprisingly different new album, and former Pela guitarist Nate Martinez debuts his solo project Thieving Irons. For the more adventurous (or traditional, depending on how you look at it), 12-string master James Blackshaw goes electric on his latest album, composed as one long 8-part epic. More straightforward rockers can be found on Capstan Shafts and The Foxymorons‘ newest, plus Sunset’s Bill Baird officially releases an earlier solo album. And we could go on... Cotton Jones, S.Carey, Jon Langford & Skull Orchard, and so many others. Pull over and check out the full list from Largehearted Boy... but not before sampling these fine tunes:
