  • “It’s in the initials. We SPs need to stick together” — so says Sub Pop cofounder Jonathan Poneman on a newly announced and somewhat surprising signing. The Seattle label, whose roster is best known for early grunge acts and current indie-rock leaning bands, is joining up with Seattle hip-hop collaborative Shabazz Palaces, who have also released this new video for “Belhaven Meridian,” directed by Kahlil Joseph:

  • Alas, us mere mortals are allowed to see what the popular music gods have graciously bestown upon us. The much awaited collaboration between Kanye West, Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, and Rick Ross has been delivered to us. But in seriousness. The track is out and you can listen to it below. Think it meets the hype? Does it revolutionize music? Will this song end the┬árecession? Only time will tell. Give us your feedback on what you think.

  • The Acorn just released a new video for their song “Restoration.” Check it out below.

  • Band of Horses have announced new dates for their Fall tour in the US and Europe. Dates are posted up on Pitchfork now.
  • The Flaming Lips are scheduled to play their ninth studio album The Soft Bulletin in its entirety July 1, 2011. Dinosaur Jr and Deerhoof will also be playing an album each as a part of ATP’s “Don’t Look Back” series.
  • Holy streaming albums, Batman! The Thermals, The Walkmen, Jose Gonzalez, among others all have albums available for listen for free online. Check out the whole list.
  • Coming out of the depths of glam-pop-rock, Brandon Flowers from The Killers has been debuting new solo work along with this latest song titled “Hard Enough” with some help from Jenny Lewis.
