From Saratoga Springs, New York, Phantogram released their debut full-length Eyelid Movies this year on Barsuk, which is collects new songs as well as favorites from their previous two EPs. Comprised of Sarah Barthel and Joshua Carter, Phantogram play synthy electronica with snare-y hip hop back beats that usually feature Barthel’s airy voice spacing the music’s tight beats out a little. And I don’t know if it’s just the name, but Phantogram’s music does have a certain uniquely spectral quality about it. If you’re an indie rock fan having a graveyard party, make sure you grab the whole discography. And as Cheryl Waters says of the Phantogram, as they finished their set at Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, they “put the ‘x’ in ‘sexy’.”

I’m confused. Did Phantogram play two shows for MFNW? Was the one at Doug Fir unpublicized?
They performed live on air on KEXP from the Doug Fir Lounge on Friday. It was publicized on the MFNW website, Willamette Weekly and on KEXP for sure. It may not have been included in the pull-out schedule.
Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t have made it to the Friday show anyway, so I’m relieved I didn’t miss another opportunity while I was still in the area.
