Thursday Music News Revelations

  • We showed you a few months ago the Kanye West track “Monster,” which featured Bon Iver (among a slew of other R&B and rap artists). Now the two are at it again with a leaked track title “Lost In The World.” The song uses a sample of Bon Iver’s “Woods” throughout the song. Here’s your chance to hear it. Hopefully, the “YourAudioFix.Com” shout outs will make it on the final cut of the album.

  • To start the news on a happy note, we are proud to report that urine was not thrown at MGMT on Sunday night. At first, it was speculated that the cups thrown at the band at the end of their set were urine but it was in fact Manchester Ale. Andrew VanWyngarden from the band relayed information that this is actually a “sign of affection” and was celebratory. You can real VanWyngarden’s whole letter to Pitchfork relating to the incident here.
  • Broken Social Scene has provided a previously unreleased titled “Not At My Best” and an instrumental score titled “Sweet Number One” for the It’s Kind Of A Funny Story soundtrack. The compilation is currently streaming at Spinner and also features the likes of The Damned and Mayer Hawthorne.
  • Deerhunter performed a couple new songs from their new album Halycon Digest at a show in Chicago this last Saturday. Videos were taken, songs were heard, and tears were shed. Here’s “Helicopter”:

  • Rocapella, infamous pop and rock a capella cover group, has released their own rendition of “A-Punk” by Vampire Weekend. Seems a bit more r&b and, well, a capella. Let us know your thoughts!

  • The Morning Benders debuted a new track on the fabulous French performance video series La Blogotheque. Watch the band perform the song “Virgins” below:

  • The nominees for the 2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are already out. The list features the likes of Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, The Beastie Boys, and others. Check out the whole list on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame web site.
