Brooklyn band The Drums came in existence when former members of Elkland/Goat Explosion decided to put away synthesizers and pick up guitars. During their session at the Ace Hotel NYC during CMJ, as presented by KEXP and Toyota’s Free Yr Radio, The Drums captivated the audience with their frenetic dancing, imminently catchy songs and anachronistically polite song intro and outros -- I mean, who bows anymore? ... no one as good as them, that’s for sure! Frontman Jonathan Pierce moves onstage like a man possessed (by the spirit of Ian Curtis) and his jerky dancing may have been best described by DJ Sharlese: “It’s a mating call!”
