KEXP was very, very busy in September as we hosted live performances at Bumbershoot (Seattle) from the KEXP Music Lounge, along with live performances at Music Fest NorthWest (MFNW - Portland). On top of those we were still able to squeeze in quite a few quality live performances at our in station studio. [Pictures from the Bumbershoot and MFNW performances were previously posted.] As usual, we had major indie acts, international artists, local acts and others from around the country.
We had the pleasure of hosting Cloud Cult, Dirty Projectors, Fistful of Mercy (feat. Dhani Harrison, Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur), Local Natives, and The Walkmen.
We also had a ton of local acts in our studio: A Million Years Ago (pop/rock), Bryan John Appleby (folk/acoustic), Ill Cosby (DJ/producer), Rusty Willoughby w/ Rachel Flotard (rock), and Splatinum (beats/dance).
These international acts made their way to our studio: Dan Mangan – Vancouver, B.C. singer-songwriter, Frikstailers – Argentinian DJ-producer team member Lisandro Sona, Khaira Arby – singer-songwriter from Mali, The Chameleons Vox – Manchester, England rockers.
And you can’t forget these national indie bands: L.A. based electro-pop artist Pat Grossi as Active Child, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. – NASCAR-suited Detroit duo, Elizabeth Cook – FL alt. country singer-songwriter, Frankie & The Pool Boys – CA surf rockers, Jerry King and the Rivertown Ramblers – Rockabilly from Cincinnati, Sea of Cortez –L.A. indie rock, and The Love Language – NC retro-pop.

It might just be my mentality, but I love how Cloud Cult doesn’t really look like a “band”. Like just a random group of people gathered up to take a picture.
