Too quirky to take too seriously, yet much too talented to take for granted, Dr. Dog stopped by our studio and performed four tracks off their 2010 release, Shame Shame (Anti-). The Philadelphia group, who have shared a tour with Seattle’s own Cave Singers, bring to the table a polished take on a familiar vintage sound. The band’s goal of Shame, Shame? To recreate their live performances rather than reinvent themselves inside the studio. From the sounds of thick-rimmed Atractions’ synth to possible landmarks in George Martin’s career, the darker-toned album stretches across decades worth of rock n’ roll.
