  • New Gorillaz Album for Christmas? Consequence of Sound is reporting that Damon Albarn has recorded an album using his iPad which he will release for FREE on Christmas Day. The music was created during the Gorillaz latest tour of the U.S. over a month. They’ve also made an Advent Calendar to track the releaseĀ here.

  • Aretha Franklin ailing: Our best wishes go out to the Queen of Soul, who announced in November that she was taking six months off under doctor’s orders and who has now revealed the source of her much speculated ailment: pancreatic cancer. She calls her surgery last week in Detroit “highly successful” thanks to her “superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country.” Get more information here.

  • J. Mascis stripped down and alone: Believe it or not, the Dinosaur Jr. frontman has never amid his copious output released an official solo studio record… until now.
