  • The new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees are in: Next year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class will include Neil DiamondAlice CooperTom WaitsDarlene Love and Dr. John. Leon Russell will be receive The Award For Musical Excellence (formerly the Sideman category) and industry legends Jac Holzman and Art Rupe will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The ceremony will be held March 14 at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. (via Rolling Stone)

  • Beck producing new Thurston Moore solo album: According to Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, he’s got a new album in the works with Beck producing. The new album is reportedly titled Benediction and was recorded in Southern California at Beck’s home studio. (via Pitchfork)
  • The Head and the Heart on Sub Pop?: There have been rumor afloat that the local band currently blowing up will be joining fellow folksters Fleet Foxes and Iron & Wine on Seattle’s beloved Sub Pop label, and though official news has not yet broken, The Sound on the Sound may just have the evidence to finally confirm that rumor.
  • Christmas scenes from Fujiya & Miyagi?: Sort of. The groovy UK electronic group has already premiered two videos from their forthcoming Ventriloquizzing, which comes out next month on Yep Roc: “Sixteen Shades Of Black & Blue” and “YoYo.” Now they’ve just released “bizarre scenes from Fujiya & Miyagi and their doppelganger dummies” wishing you a merry Christmas:

  • The Decemberists cover The Grateful Dead “Row Jimmy”: The Grateful Dead cover is the b-side on the 7″ for “January Hymn,” an original cut they released this week on vinyl, right on the eve of their new reportedly stripped-down album, The King is Dead. Hear both sides of the 7″ on Stereogum.
  • Jack White produces new First Aid Kit record: Swedish folk-pop duo First Aid Kit are the latest band to collaborate with Jack White as part of his Third Man Studios Blue Series. The album was produced and recorded by White at his studio in Nashville and is due for release on January 18. (via thelineofbestfit)
  • A Twin Peaks video postcard from Blood Red Shoes: Northwest natives and fans of the TV-series will appreciate this video and story from the band. Watch the video below:
