  • The Flaming Lips, now with 20 times more balloons and confetti: For their New Year’s Eve event in Oklahoma City, The Flaming Lips promise a unique experience for their fans. A performance of their 1999 breakthrough album, The Soft Bulletin, in its entirety at midnight is just part of the fun. • Yoko Ono turns the the light back on: Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey Island in Reykjavik, Iceland, has been rekindled for the New Year to honor her late husband John Lennon, who died 30 years ago this month. You can watch the live feed here of the memorial, illuminated from 8:30AM through 4PM PST. (via Rolling Stone)
  • Sir Richards snubbed no more?: The orchid ashing, tell-all scribing Rolling Stones co-founder is being championed by current London Mayor Boris Johnson for knighthood.
