Recently, Small Black shoegazed their way into our studios, hammering out a set of popped out electro tunes. The quartet’s larger than life sound gets them the all-too-frequent My Bloody Valentine comparisons, but they’ve harnessed that sound and made it their own. Humbly founded in a Long Island home one winter, the band began as a duo, pumping out laid back, Casio-fueled tracks. Some time later, Small Black was re-imagined as a bolder, fuller, livelier band capable of blasting out early-90s post-new wave, pre-grunge meddlings. The foursome went on to record New Chain on Jagjaguwar last year. The band’s song “Photojournalist” was also featured in November as our Song of the Day. Check out the videos from their session here:
