Between Rhett Miller and his band Old 97′s, they’ve racked up a total of 8 in-studio performances at KEXP in the past 10 years -- that’s just how much KEXP listeners and DJs love them. The long-lived band started up in the early 90′s -- back in the heyday of alt-country‘s popularity -- and have knocked out one solid album after another every few years since. Their live show is really where it’s at. Rhett, Murray, Ken and Philip continue to pack venues for their fun, fiery performances. Just before playing the Showbox at the Market for the umpteenth time last month, Rhett Miller dropped by the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole to perform songs from the Old 97′s latest album, The Grand Theatre, Volume One, which collects the first batch of songs recorded at Dallas’ majestic Sons of Hermann Hall and includes Rhett’s first co-writing credit with Bob Dylan!
