KEXP Song of the Day alumni and local Seattle chillwavers Beat Connection specialize in a balearic blend of surf-psychedelia and dance pop. Seattle listeners may recognize the group’s debut EP, Surf Noir, from last year, when it was released for free via Bandcamp. Surf Noir has withstood the test of time, however, and the EP will be re-released internationally April 12th on UK label Tender Age. Preceding that, the young locals are scheduled to showcase at South By Southwest -- a far cry for a couple of kids who began recording in an attic studio. But if Surf Noir tells us anything, it’s that their homegrown nostalgia gives an undeniable charm to their dancefloor pop. Below, witness their one-of-a-kind live set in the KEXP studio:
