KEXP favorite James Blake continues to impress. The UK dubstep producer’s self-titled debut LP, which came out earlier this week in the US, has rocketed to the top of the rotation. While most of Blake’s melodies focus less on traditional singer-songwriter structure and more on the avant-garde electronic manipulation to which he’s so accustomed, he’s already proven he can inhabit a verse-chorus-verse tune with a cover Feist’s “Limit to Your Love.” This time around, he transforms Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” into a soulful piano ballad. The haunting performance was recorded live at BBC studios.
