Continuing the KEXP broadcast from Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop in Austin during SXSW, we hosted another killer round of live music with Charles Bradley, O.M.D., The Black Angels, and The Joy Formidable on our second day. You can see all of the photos from these sessions here on the KEXP Blog and listen to them as they were broadcast on our Live In-Studio Performances page.

- Once a James Brown imitator, Daptone artist Charles Bradley has come into his own and is a fantastic stage performer in his own right. Backed by The Menahan Street Band, Bradley dazzled the audience in attendance at Mellow Johnny’s. Listen here!

- The most repeated and tweated phrase regarding band: “OMG it’s OMD!”. These heartthrobs of the 80′s performed songs from their new album and classics like “Enola Gay and “If You Leave.” Listen here!

- The Black Angels have been frequent guests on KEXP, but there’s nothing more special than encountering them on their home turf. The psych-rock heroes performed a semi-stripped down set just for us. Listen here!

- The just a trio, the U.K. band The Joy Formidable can put out a an enormous sound, and their session at Mellow Johnny’s was as frenetic and roaring as it is on the big stage. Listen here!
