Although the post-SXSW list of releases is a bit thin compared to previous weeks, there are some excellent new albums to send you trekking to your favorite record store. Included on the list are a few notable Seattle artists such as the eminently lovable indie band BOAT, whose album cover for Dress Like Your Idols is fun who’s who of alternative rock. (BOAT, by the way, will be our guests live on KEXP tomorrow morning at 9:30AM. Tune in!). Another great indie band from the Northwest (from Anacortes, actually), The Lonely Forest are releasing their new record, Arrows, as the debut on the Chris Walla-helmed Trans Records. And though she’s Danish, Maggie Bjorklund spent a bit of time in the Seattle area and recorded her new album, Coming Home, with guest including notable NW artists like Rachel Flotard, Jon Auer and Mark Lanegan.
Other worthwhile new releases come from Sweden’s Acid House Kings, New Orleans’ shoegazers Belong, 70′s funk-lovin’ San Francisco musician Quinn Luke, aka Bing Ji Ling, Orange County based but channeling Manchester band Voxhaul Broadcast, and UK producer Gold Panda, who collects a few 2009 EPs into one fine album, and who will also be live on KEXP tomorrow! (Tune in for Gold Panda at noon!). Also of note, The Strokes have released their fourth studio album and Duran Duran their thirteenth! I hope you guys feature a free mp3, or an article, on Craft Spell’s album “Idle Labor” that was also released today but it’s not listed above. See, the band is from Seattle and they’re real good! :)
The physical album comes out next week!
