Arcade Fire Play Surprise Haiti Gig

As Rolling Stone reports, the newly crowned Grammy- and Juno-award-winning Arcade Fire stopped by Port-Au-Prince’s Hotel Oloffson to play a 45-minute set that included four covers, as well as some old hits. The covers included Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” The Rolling Stones‘ “The Last Time,” Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and the Paragon-penned, Blondie-popularized tune “The Tide is High.”

Arcade Fire have been raising money to support the earthquake-ridden country throughout their 2010 and 2011 tours, collecting over $1 million (US dollars) to aid the relief effort. Admirable, and not surprising considering frontman Win Butler’s wife Régine is the daughter of Haitian immigrants. More power to the Fire! Catch the tracklist, and video of the band’s performances of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Haiti,” below.
