Thursday News Roundup

  • Record Store Day will be upon us this Saturday, April 16. This means an ungodly amount of new music will be released, a complete list of which you can see here. Also out will be a Sub Pop sampler CD, which will include mostly unreleased tracks from what is up-and-coming from the Northwest label for the rest of the year. You can stream the entire sampler by visiting Sub Pop’s Record Store Day page, or by visiting KEXP’s Record Store Day User’s Guide, which will be up on the blog tomorrow. For now, listen to LCD Soundsystem cover Franz Ferdinand‘s “Live Alone,” which will be featured on Domino Records’ sampler:

  • Musical heiress Charlotte Gainsbourg has announced a forthcoming double album. It will be called Live And Unreleased and is due out this fall. Featured on the album will be “Memoirs” a song that was written by Villagers’ Conor O’Brien and that appears on the 7″ the two split that is due out on Record Store Day. For more info and to listen to “Memoirs,” click here.
  • PJ Harvey‘s new album Let England Shake has had critics doing back flips. Recently she took her talents to Conan’s show on TBS…wait, that’s still on?

  • TV On The Radio‘s new album 9 Types of Light was released this Tuesday. The album’s deluxe edition contains a DVD with an hour-long film comprised of videos for all of the album’s songs. TV On The Radio also put the film up on YouTube, so if you have an odd hour to spare, check it out here.
  • Arctic Monkeys will be releasing a new, suggestively-titled LP called Suck It And See on June 6. The album’s first single is called “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair,” and you can listen to it right here:
