Wild Nothing is the solo project of Virginia’s Jack Tatum, joined live by Chuck Violand, Nathan Goodman, and Michael Skattum. The band was born in the aftermath of college bands Jack and the Whale and Facepaint, with thematic roots in nostalgia and the C86 revival. Tatum signed with label Captured Tracks following the release of his first demo tapes, including a cover of Kate Bush‘s “Cloudbusting.” The effervescently catchy “Summer Holiday” became his first single in 2009, and in 2010, the full-length Gemini was released to widespread acclaim. His textured soundscapes and wistful vocals call to mind youthful regret, but not without a twinge of hope in the process. Tatum and company stopped by the KEXP studios for a dreamy live set, which you can now watch below.
