It’s another great post- Record Store Day week for new releases. Topping the shopping lists of KEXP listeners will surely be the awaited sixth full-length from Okkervil River and the fourth LP from The Antlers. Both bands are starting tours that will bring them through the Northwest soon -- The Antlers will be at Sasquatch on Memorial Day weekend, and Okkervil River will be at the newly remodeled Neptune Theater on June 18. Other new releases likely to be snapped up this week come from Gang Gang Dance, Here We Go Magic, The Sea and Cake, Wild Beasts, and The Wilderness of Manitoba, who sit beside some names you might not have heard for awhile and probably appeared on some of your mixtapes from a couple decades or more ago: The Cars and Urge Overkill. There’s a lot of other great stuff to sample here (Other Lives, Ben Sollee, Yael Nim, and Sally Shapiro’s synth-playing partner, Johan Agebjörn), so take a cue from Largehearted Boy’s list
and just dig in!
