Puget Sound natives Meagan Grandall and Kendra Cox take their name from waterside Lemolo Drive in Poulsbo, Washington. This kind of hometown nostalgia colors their music, a dream pop fusion of contemplative keys and plucked guitars reminiscent of Beach House, but Lemolo has an energy that is entirely their own. The duo has a two-song release entitled The Singles Record and an EP, Lounge Light, but they’re currently hard at work in the studio on their debut full-length release, due out in fall. If their present output is any indication, a full album of dreamy guitars and heartfelt analog synths would be a wonder to behold.
Lemolo has already played sold out Seattle stages at venues such as Neumos and the Showbox, and are soon scheduled to open for The Head and the Heart in Vancouver. The sky is the limit for these talented young ladies, and their rise to stardom is all but inevitable. The duo recently stopped by the KEXP studios for a one-of-a-kind live set, which you should absolutely watch below.
