On the road with DeVotchKa

Hello, Seattle friends -- we’re getting ready to split for a European tour starting in Switzerland on Friday, and our favorite radio station here will be hosting a few updates and photos, & random anecdotes from our travels through July. The set we did down at Bonnaroo last weekend got the kinks out a bit, so with a minute to catch up, hose off the dirt, and repack our bags, we’re good to go. This is the 2nd half of the 100 Lovers tour I suppose, but I just think of it like the festival run ‘cause you don’t wind up playing nearly the same kind of set as you do in a venue. Not having a soundcheck is liberating, as most of you musicians know, horrific at times, but much less waiting around. And even if things get compromised, it seems festival folk are way more tolerant.

So what lies ahead is a bizarre twist through club shows, city-wide festivals, and the legendary Glastonbury fest in the UK. I know we’re opening for Primus in Brusells -- it’ll be good to see Mr. Claypool again along with a few familiar places, coupled with a unique fest in Sordevolo, Italy and another in Duisburg, Germany. Looks like we’re crossing paths with some fantastic acts and I’m intent on seein’ TV on the Radio at the Wireless Fest in Hyde Park, our last show, which is a bonus for sure.

Thanks much to our friends at KEXP and we’ll check in from Switzerland. Cheers!
