Sonic Roundup 6/15

  • LCD Soundsystem recently picked up a Webby Award for “Artist of the Year,” presumably for the thrilling live stream of their three-hour farewell gig at Madison Square Garden. Watch (and chuckle at) James Murphy’s five-word acceptance speech below.

  • Philadaelphia-based DJ Bombe has released a James Blake-Drake mash-up mixtape, available for streaming on his site via Soundcloud. Check out the seamlessly merged electronic melancholy James Drake below.

  • Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks have recently announced Mirror Traffic, the group’s long-awaited follow-up to 2008′s Real Emotional Trash. Now, the band has unveiled the album’s supporting tour (including a Seattle date at the Neptune on October 11), and an MP3 of the first single from the album, “Senator.” Check out both (and pre-order the album) over at the Matablog, and listen to “Senator” below.

  • What do Rick Moranis, Donald Trump, and exploding body parts have in common? They’re all in the new video from noise-rock group Tera Melos. Director Behn Fannin helms the clip for “Kelley,” a remix of the Patagonian Rats album cut “Kelly,” as the band makes use of prime advertising space to intersperse images of them playing their instruments with gruesome and oft-hilarious scenes of over-the-top gore. Watch below, via Cluster 1.
