San Francisco folk-rock trio The Dodos (formerly Dodo Bird) are perhaps best known for their acclaimed 2008 LP, Visiter, from which the indelibly catchy hit “Fools” is taken. The years since have been kind to the band, who’re now touring behind their 2011 album, No Color, which peaked at #70 on the US Charts and snagged an A- from The AV Club. The record features the band’s hooky riffs and unconventional percussion (no bass drum?!), highlighted by Meric Long’s standout fingerpicking (the guitarist rarely uses a pick). It’s an album at turns dissonant and surprisingly beautiful, occasionally helped along by backing vocals from indie folk heroine Neko Case.
