Live Around Town This Week

The big story this week, of course, is the Capitol Hill Block Party, which runs Friday through Sunday and takes over a big chunk of the neighborhood. TV on the Radio, Explosions in the Sky, Ghostland Observatory, The Head And The Heart, Best Coast, Thurston Moore, Ra Ra Riot, and Les Savy Fav are some of the bigger names on the roster, but there are plenty of new and local bands to discover, including My Goodness, Austra, Painted Palms, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and many others. KEXP will be broadcasting from the Capitol Hill Block Party all three days! Check out more info on that here, and check back on the blog this week for a preview. Other performers coming to town include New Orleans indie group Generationals, Iraqi thrash metal band Acrassicauda, and pop star Katy Perry. Here’s this week’s rundown:

Little known fact, Casey Veggies was an original member of Odd Future. He and Tyler the Creator met when Tyler was a sophomore in high school and Casey was in 8th grade. Casey eventually decided that he wanted to do his own thing, and embarked on his own music career.
