Yesterday, we posted a stunning live set from Stillwater, OK, band Other Lives. Today, more lush orchestral pop comes your way through Chapel Hill, N.C.’s Lost in the Trees. For this collective, young symphony composer and songwriter Ari Picker, has gathered like-minded musicians to explore the convergence of classical music, folk and pop -- for reference, think Blind Pilot playing Ravel. The resulting mix is intoxicating and cathartic, and live, Lost in the Trees becomes part folk revival, part cabaret. Several months ago, the 7-member band swung through Seattle, and though we had only just started to play their new album, Midday Show host Cheryl Waters was so inspired by their live set at The Tractor that she booked them on the spot for an in-studio for the next day. And thank goodness for that, because this set is exquisite. Enjoy the videos from the session here:
