
Men out of time, Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three play old time Americana -- ragtime, country blues, jazz, and western swing -- in a way that, despite their anachronistic attire, they make seem fresh and new to listeners today. About four years ago, Pokey started performing and recording by himself, but in 2009 joined up with bassist Joey Glynn, guitarist Adam Hoskins, and harmonica/washboard player Ryan Koenig to form the full band. They’ve since won over festival crowds in the U.S. and Europe, earned rave reviews from media outlets like Spin and NPR, and have become a favorite on KEXP’s Wednesday evening roots show, The Roadhouse.
