It was an appropriate swan song for long-time KEXP DJ Jon Kertzer, host of the beloved African music show The Best Ambiance, that Femi Kuti & The Positive Force should be the final in-studio on his show. Jon, who now resides and teaches in Edmonton, Alberta, started The Best Ambiance over 25 years ago and has cited Femi Kuti himself among the original inspirations for the show. Fortunately for us, Femi Kuti was touring his latest, Africa for Africa -- a suitably inspiring, self-affirming and politically charged album for the eldest son of politically outspoken Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti -- and was able to bring his entire band of 12 members into the KEXP studio. Somehow, we managed to squeeze a few cameras into the room with them to capture this amazing performance. Check out the videos now:
