Bumbershoot 2011, Saturday: Little Dragon

photos by Dave Lichterman

Fresh off the release of their third studio-album, Ritual Union, Swedish-band Little Dragon played a dusk set on the opening day of Bumbershoot 2011. A scarf shrouding her head, front-women Yukimi Nagano seduced the crowd with her sly vocals, gold leggings, and generally mysterious nature. At times, she seemed thoroughly hypnotized by the trio of musicians backing her up, producing smooth, crisp percussion and interesting, adventurous keys and synth. Their whole set was danceable and upbeat, with the title track and first single of the new album being played as the third song in the nearly hour long set. Little Dragon proved to be a definite highlight of Bumbershoot 2011 Day 1.
